It requires your Wii or vWii system to have the Homebrew Channel. The term "vWii" means a Wii U console running in Wii mode.

See Homebrew Channel for instructions on how to use it, and see Homebrew setup for installation instructions.

here's to another 10 years of Mario kart and wii gaming.Ripping games and saves using a Wii or Wii U console will require you to have homebrew software installed.

I'm not planning on theming or doing anything else other than enabling online features. it's best to take your time to research and ask and watch videos online than just rush in and then have a bricked Wii. I hope this helps someone out in the future who may have any similar issues to me and in this part of Reddit, no question asked is a stupid question. I also went and backed up the 100% unlocked save the file to my sd card again and moved it off the sd card for safekeeping.

I did a backup of my Mario kart save file and when you go to back up the copy option, the button may look greyed out but the button still works the normal way just like backing up any other game.įinally, I followed this video about unlocking the whole of Mario kart which I was able to do without a problem.

I could enable region free Wii games and game cube games, but that's up to you. Then I enabled Remove NoCopy Save File Protection option, and that is the only thing enabled as my Wii is up to date. I followed this guide here ( ) i did ask about the version difference here if there were any extra steps needed but not really as i have the latest homebrew channel.

The next part is to install priiloader to be able to enable the option to copy all game saves. Then copied the keys.bin and nand.bin to a safe place from the sd card. Once I had a NAND backup, I turned off my Wii and plugged in my sd card. I then followed this video from the current point to install and make a NAND backup. Once I did that, I loaded up the homebrew channel and pressed the home button and the bootmii option came up. its simply a case of turning off your Wii and following here ( ). when i installed the homebrew channel i did not install bootmii as well, so you would know by not finding the bootmii option in homebrew channel when pressing the home button on the Wii remote. although I'm not modding that much like a custom theme or anything like its still important to be safe. This was done on a black Nintendo Wii similar to this picture in the UK and black as part of the same bundle. Ok I'm writing this as an update, there are a few steps needed in order to be able to unlock everything but not only that, I'm able to backup Mario kart Wii save file (normally you cant). So yes just wondering about the Mario kart save file, also would my licence name be completely different as the game save came from another person or would I create my own licence file and restoring the game save replace what's already on the Mario kart Wii licence? I haven't modded my Wii completely only thing was to run cleanrip and that's it. When I installed homebrew using letterbomb there was no option to install bootmii or preloader as my Wii is the black version. I had looked into using save game manager gx and I'm not sure if it can import and export save game data to sd card in the same way as the data management channel does in the same format and folders or do I have to use priiloader to enable Remove NoCopy Save File Protection option to be able to backup and restore Mario kart Wii save file in the same format. I stupidly deleted the save file on the Wii and tried to restore my progress from the downloader save file, but could not.

However, I came across a save file of Mario kart eu ( ) and loaded onto my sd card. I had played Mario kart but did not unlock everything and I did come across my save file on my Wii but couldn't back it up to sd card.
